Welcome to Limetree Therapy
At Limetree Therapy, we support children and adolescents as they navigate big feelings, life changes, and challenges they may not yet have the words to express. We also work closely with parents and early years professionals, offering guidance and practical support grounded in understanding, connection, and experience.
Limetree Therapy is a warm, child-centred practice led by Karen Coyne, a Child and Adolescent Therapeutic Play Practitioner with over 20 years' experience working in early childhood and education settings.

Who We Work With
We work with:
-
Children and adolescents
-
Parents and caregivers
-
Early learning and childcare settings
-
Educators and management teams
Support is tailored to the unique needs of each child, family, or setting, recognising that every child's experience and development is different.

Our Approach & Values
Our work is guided by a "connection before correction" approach. This means prioritising emotional safety, trust, and relationship-building before focusing on behaviour. When children feel understood and supported, meaningful change can begin.
Limetree Therapy values:
-
Strong, trusting relationships
-
Child-led, developmentally appropriate practice
-
Compassionate, strengths-based support
-
Collaboration with families and educators
-
Respect for each child's pace and individuality
Behaviour is viewed as communication, and every child is met with empathy, curiosity, and care.

How Therapy Works:
Therapeutic play sessions provide children and adolescents with a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, experiences, and challenges through play and creative expression. Play allows children to communicate in the way that feels most natural to them, particularly when feelings are difficult to put into words.
Sessions are tailored to each child's needs and may involve parents or caregivers where appropriate. Progress is gentle and guided by the child, with a focus on building emotional regulation, confidence, and a sense of security.
For early learning settings and schools, support may include observation, consultation, and the development of practical strategies that help staff respond to big emotions and behaviours with confidence and consistency.
